So I'm pretty much a high functioning kid, I just portray the role of an adult pretty convincingly. I have a diamond ring, I own a car, pay bills, and I've managed to keep animals alive. You know, grown up things.
But oftentimes I like to do silly stuff. Things that maybe real life adults don't or shouldn't do. I've been in many situations where I paused and looked around only to discover that we were the only adults there without kids. I really like Disneyland, I once asked a man in a children's petting zoo if I could hug his mini-horse, I LOVE glitter.
So when I asked my pals over to a Valentine's themed crafting party, they obliged. They truly get me! Also, everyone wants an excuse to color and glue stuff. My goal was to invoke the nostalgia of our grade school Valentine's day celebrations. I set the table with some art supplies; markers, heart stickers, doilies, confetti, scissors, and glue. Everyone was supplied with a paper lunch bag and we each decorated them to our hearts content. They all had our names written on them so we could later drop in valentines and treats for everyone, just like in elementary school!
We wrapped the tables with gift wrap so we could go crazy and not worry about messing up any furniture.
Most of these crafting goodies are from the dollar store! They also have GREAT valentines.
My favorite cards growing up had candy connected to them, obviously. These also had mustaches you could hold up to your face!
This party also makes grown men buy One Direction valentine cards. We all fought over Harry. I ended up with Zayn, ughs.
Of course there were yummy hors d'oeuvres. I found a double cream brie already shaped like a heart, score!
I also made crostini with a herbed goat cheese, diced beets tossed in a vinaigrette and topped with fresh dill. They were super yummy!
This is my bag of loot. My Little Pony, a fancy pirate fold out valentine, adorable monsters and of course Zayn from One Direction. Apparently I make him smile.
For the rest of the evening's activities, I baked up a ton of rolled sugar cookies. We iced them with three different colors and covered them in sprinkles. Last year we painted picture frames. It's fun to craft with a group!
Look at all these beauties!
Alex also brought over these amazing chocolate cupcakes (they have cookie dough inside) and Abby bought me these adorable heart shaped sparklers. My lady friends are the best. Check them out in action!
In the end, we all left with bags of adorable valentines, our bellies full of sugar and champagne in our hearts. Extra bonus, I caught nothing on fire.
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!
